Aquilla, Texas -- In response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and the terrorist attacks on our country and the bad effects it has had on all sectors of the aviation industry, the crop dusting company Gerik Ag Service of Aquilla, Texas has spent the last three and a half months making their aircraft highly visible with a new paint scheme. Jerry Gerik, owner of Gerik Ag Service, has allowed John Seay, a pilot for his company, to design a paint scheme that is very American, Patriotic and friendly in appearance. The new look is designed to project a patriotic and very American look and to eliminate the chance of causing anyone to feel fearful at the sight of a low-flying aircraft that is not clearly-marked with friendly insignias, says Seay, a 22-year crop dusting veteran. The bright yellow biplane is clearly marked on the top and bottom of its wings in 24-inch high letters with the name of the company GERIK AG, and a large American flag. Reminiscent of the training aircraft of WWII, which were brightly painted and easy to identify, that era was the inspiration for the look given to this Grumman G-164A Ag Cat. Also, Seay explains that it is very fitting in that the same company and men who designed the famous Grumman fighters of WWII also designed the Grumman crop dusters. Seay enjoys his work and says that if you see him flying by in the patriotic Ag Cat, give him a wave from below. ÒMost likely IÕll wave back with my wings,Ó he says. ÒYou can bet IÕm having a good time helping American farmers feed the world. IÕve been enjoying my work for the past 22 years. Just the other day, Senator Tom Davidson called, saying he was sending me some sort of certificate of appreciation for the patriotism displayed on the Ag Cat.Ó It stands to reason, that as more ag aircraft come due for a paint job, more will opt for the patriotic paint scheme. It is just good business. Ag pilots have always been a freedom loving group. Their aircraft is a befitting way to display their patriotism, and maybe even get a nod of approval from those they fly over on the ground!
