Creation and Faith

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible” (Hebrews 11:1-3). “Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, the righteous will live by faith‚“ (Galatians 3:11).
Faith is the key to our relationship with God. In all of our relationship with God, faith is involved. Our faith in Jesus Christ opened up this door of relationship whereby we first began to relate to God and began to experience the love and power of God within our lives. All that we receive from God we receive through faith; it is our faith in the promise of God that brings us the blessings that God has for us. Faith is the only way we can communicate with God.
The first verse in the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). If you can believe this verse, then nothing else in the Bible should be a problem for you. All of the miraculous acts of God performed through the men and women of faith, and all the other miracles in the Bible should be easy for you to believe, if you can believe the first verse in the Bible.
But if you do not believe this first verse in the Bible, then nothing else in the Bible will make any sense to you. Paul wrote, “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14). The Holy Spirit must open the eyes of a person for them to understand spiritual things.
The origin of the universe has always been a mystery to the natural man. But there has never been a mystery to the origin of the universe to the spiritual man. The spiritual man knows that in the beginning that God created the heavens and the earth. There is no mystery to that, no problem with that for the spiritual man. The spiritual man understands that out of nothing God made something.
So often we find the men and women of faith being put down and scoffed at by many scientist. They often call the men and women of faith simple minded, or even foolish. But it is interesting to me that the men and women of faith are usually well ahead of science. The natural person who only deals with the things that he or she can see, touch, hear and smell is blind to the spiritual realm.
For centuries people scoffed at the idea that every solid object we see or touch is made out of things that are invisible to the eye. But now, almost 2000 years after the writer of Hebrews tells us that the things we see are made out of things we cannot see, science comes along and tells us that everything is made up out of atoms. And they tell us about the molecular structure of the universe and how these molecules are brought together to form mass.
For centuries men and women believed that the world was flat, and that you could actually sail or walk off the edge of the earth. But the truly spiritual person always knew better. They knew that the Bible said that the earth was round. Talking about God, Isaiah wrote, “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in” (Isaiah 40:22). “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth.” That’s very simple isn’t it, the Bible has always taught that the earth was round.
In 70 AD the Roman General Titus, and his army, destroyed Jerusalem. At that time the nation of Israel ceased to exist, and for over 1800 years the nation of Israel was only a dream for the Hebrew people. Even most Bible scholars did not think that the Bible was being literal when it said that the nation of Israel would become a nation again; and would be a stumbling block to the whole world in the later days (cf. Zechariah 12:2-3).
But anyone can read the history of what happened in May of 1948, when the nation of Israel came into existence again. And all anyone has to do is turn on a TV to hear and see all the fighting and killing that is going on over the land of Israel and the city of Jerusalem.
How do we know that the Bible is the truth of God? Only by faith! By faith we know that God spoke the heavens and the earth into existence. By faith we know He did it all for His own pleasure and glory.
The first words of the Bible declared the vastness and greatness of God. If you get the correct concept of God into your mind, then you should not have any problem with anything the Bible says. There is nothing that is impossible for Him; in fact, there is nothing that is even difficult for the true and living God. Biblical faith is not blind, faith can see far more than the unbeliever can. Men and women of faith see far into the future; faith sees what the others do not see.
Jesus said, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him” (John 3:17). Paul wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). By faith we believe what the Bible says about Jesus Christ being the only way to God (cf. John 14:6).
